The snake charmer, the elephant taxi, the flying fakir are just some of the fascinations offered by the billion plus country of India. The less known idiosyncrasies around the magic of thread, is what the book ‘Thread’ attempts at revealing. The commonplace thread or dhaga more than just binds. It weaves the fabric of everyday lives in India. Subject to its colour, it serves as protector, fortifier, forges relationships, repels evil, invites prosperity, initiates newcomers to music, to religion, and incites an entire country to demand economic independence. Both the uneducated and the educated follow these beliefs alike and they weave the fabric of our everyday lives.
