The relationship between archaeology and architecture is used as a metaphor for self-discovery. Expressed through seven layers of the book, is the idea that one needs to go deep down within oneself to evolve.
The book visually features these two opposite poles by taking the form of a Ziggurat. You start from the top and as you read, you go down the steps. And when you reach the bottom there’s no way to turn, but back to the top. The book is constructed using seven individual booklets of increasing size. The number seven is significant in the spiritual context with the seven chakras, the seven planes of consciousness as well as the bible.
While the book structure was made close to 20 years back, it was exciting to finally find the right text… in 2023. The poem ‘Dig’ was specially commissioned and the poet kept in mind the central idea and book structure so that all three gave out a common message. ‘Dig’ repeatedly pounds at ‘duality’ going from one extreme to the other. And casually slips in the real truth of ‘oneness’ in between. Getting out of the realm of good and bad, up and down, right and wrong starts the process of involution, the beginning of the spiritual path towards the ultimate goal of self-realization.
